Hi My GG followers!!!

Hope everybody!!! Hope everyone is doing well. The weeks are flying by I must say with less than 3 weeks left to go the pressure is adding up now.  I'm nowhere near where I need to be to win the competition. A contestant by the name of Steve has blown us all away..... BY ALOT!!!!
I keep telling myself, I must stay positive. At the end of the day it was not about winning the 10,000 dollars, it's about taking the leap into a healthier lifestyle and sticking to it until the end and then some. Genghis has definitely been that motivation for me to start what I have been wanting to do for 2 years now.  I hear a lot of other contestants wanting to give up because of this Steve person and how we don't  have a chance in catching up to him . To win this,  we would need to loose like over an additional 70 pounds to get close that the amount of percentage weight that he has lost.  Alot of them are saying comments like, he must of cheated someway... I say, congrats Steve for kicking ass.. Obviously your motivation was way better than mine, your drive and determination was stronger than everyone's else so far in this competition. As for me, I started the competition weighing in at 183 pounds and currently weighing 166. Weight is now coming off really slow and its getting frustrated. It has been hard for me to go to the gym consistently because I have a 2 year old that I must attend to after work. I can only really go to the gym like every other weekend when he is with his dad.  So, some frustration has been kicking in lately because the days are flying by and not seeing the results I was anticipating.   I'm hoping that by the end of the 60 days, I will weigh in at 150 pounds. I think this is an obtainable goal to bestow on myself.    Well guys, pleasure chatting with you all like always, be safe !

Love,
Christy

Who Do I Admire

Today I interviewed someone really dear to my heart today. This person has a lot of wisdom and has always is there for through the good, the bad through everything.

I have approach this special person in regards to My healthkwest journey and ask hi, some questions. I told him that him that I'm not too happy with my results especially after the midpoint weight in and asked him for some advice, insight and inspiration for the remaining days of my Health Kwest journey. His advice was, child as long as you are giving it all you have that's all that matters. I also asked him to give me some inspirational quotes that he has lived upon throughout his life and some life experiences. Here are some of my questions and his replies:

1. What is a quote you live by? Live life with no regrets . Live the moment don't dwell on yesterday.

2. When given a life challenge, how do you face it? Head on, do not hesitate and go with your 1st gut instinct and you'll be just fine.

3. How do you make sure you stick to the "goal"? He replies honey take it one day at a time. Write down your goals and make sure they are obtainable and don't go setting crazy goals which will lead you down a road of rapid weight loss which will not be healthy for you in the long run. He tells me I'm beautiful just the way I am and it doesn't matter if I dont win the competition because I am already a winner!
I gave him a great big hug kissed him and said..... Love you DAD!!!!

Day 29 of 60 Opinion Matters

Hi everybody!

Its been really toough for me this week. I seem to have it a wall or plateau as other call it. I have been really good all last week going to the gym more frequent but not loosing the weight as I was in week 1

My Genghis Grill assignment today was to ask my manager what is new or what is the limited time only ingredients in Khan’s Kitchen. Try one of the new/limited time only items and write a blog about what you tried and your opinion on it.

Well after asking Levy who is one of the managers, I found out that my Pembroke Pines Genghis has pulled Pork as an limited time only item in their Khan’s Kitchen. I have seen the pulled pork many times but have never decided to get it before today. I usually stick to my fish or shrimp and/or the turkey. I must say the pulled pork was not bad at all! I enjoyed it alot and would hate to see it leave the menu. Even though I might not have it again during the competition I wouldn't mind haven't it from time to time.

I wanted to tell Genghis Grill that I love coming to eat here! Your selection of food is amazing. I love coming here and so does my 14 year old son. All my friends love it too! Everyone I have told about Genghis and have made it into the restaurant for a bite, they absolutely love it and you have made them repeat visitors.  Keep up the great work Genghis Grill! Looking forward to my next 30 days!

Sincerely,

Your Genghis Grill Healthwest Khantestant

Tea Anyone?

Today lets talk about the benefits of drinking tea . Why drink tea? Allow me to tell you some reasons why you should .

-Antioxidants
Tea contains the antioxidant polyphenol, which can reduce the risk of gastric and skin cancer if you consume more than four cups daily. Even consuming just one cup daily, though, significantly decreases a woman's risk of ovarian cancer. Essentially, antioxidants protect our bodies against age-related diseases.

-Loose weight
Tea, specifically green tea, combats the absorption of fat in our bodies. Drinking tea helps move digestion along quicker, and it increases your metabolism. Tea also contains caffeine which has been known to aid in weight loss. Try replacing all of your coffee and other beverages with green tea for one week (you can still drink water). I guarantee you'll drop a few pounds.

-Tea boosts your immunity
With cold and flu season never seeming to come to an end, it's important to get our immunities in gear so we avoid falling victim to these illnesses. Tea can do just that. Drink up, though — as studies show you need about six cups per day to really improve your body's virus-fighting capabilities.

-Good for your teeth
We all want good dental hygiene and a sparkling white smile, and when toothpaste's not enough, it's time to turn to tea. Tea contains fluoride which strengthens the enamel of the teeth. Again, try not to add any milk or sugar to your tea as it can reduce the effects of the fluoride.
I'm Glad that I was always to share these tea drinking benefit with you. I'm a coffee drinking in the morning but I will try replacing my coffee with tea instead and can't wait to see results . I would like to thank Red Diamond Tea company for the tea gift and make sure you pay them a visit at: http://www.reddiamond.com

Day 21 of 60: Benefits of whole grains

For some years now I have become more health conscious when it comes to eating healthier foods. One of the first things that come to mind that I have changed when it comes to eating healthier is eating more whole grains. Most people know that whole grains are good for the diet. However, they may not be sure what constitutes whole grain foods, or why whole grains are beneficial to the body.

Whole grains contain magnesium, iron, fiber and B Vitamins and other antioxidants.
More and more studies show that returning to whole grains and other unprocessed carbohydrates can improve our health in many ways.
Whole grains help to prevent constipation,
Reduces your risk of cardiovascular disease, offers protection against some forms of cancer, helps protect you from developing type 2 diabetes and eating more whole grains helps you to live longer.
Whole grain foods don't contain just one magical ingredient that can fight disease and improve your health. It's the entire wholesome package working together that gives you all these valuable whole grain benefits. Some of my favorites whole grains foods are whole wheat grain rice, whole wheat breads and whole wheat pastas to name a few even whole wheat pancakes too :-)
Next time you are in the supermarket or in a restaurant substitute something in your plate or add to your shopping list any of my personal favorites and see and compare the nutritional values. You'll be surprise what a big difference it can make in you diet.

How do I handle stress?

I have been asked "How do I handle stress"? That's a very good question. I'm a worrier.. Always worrying about everyone else but myself. In the past when I have undergone a very drastic life changing event, I cope with it my maintaining myself very busy. For a period of time, going back to School has been somewhat of an escape goat for me. Some may find going back to school as added stress but I find it takes me away from my everyday hustle and bustle. As of recent I have also been introduced to cycling. Even though I'm new to the cycling world I see it as a stress reliever. When I'm on the that bicycle nothing else matter. All the worries are gone. All that matters is me on the bike, everything else disappears. When I started riding, my first few rides where 15miles. I would of never guessed I could do 15 miles on a bike. My most challenging ride was riding from downtown to over the Rickenbacker causeway down to the end of the lighthouse and back to downtown. That was a 30 mile ride!!!! I would see people go over the bridge in my car and would say to myself wow wish I could do that one day. I can now proudly scratch if off from my to do list. Can't wait for my next bike ride. What to conquer next?? Hmmmm the possibilities are endless .. Everyone handles stress differently, as long as you find a stress reliever that works for you anything is possible. We all need to have a positive outlook in life. No matter how bad you think you have it there's are people out in there that have it 10x worse than you. Live . Love. Be happy.
